Position Objectives:
To oversee and manage the operation of the (Jessica Beath/PETA) spay/neuter veterinary clinic in Ashland, VA
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
- Participate in the creation and execution of a transition plan to increase surgeries, services and general operation of the clinic
- Oversee and ensure the smooth operation of the clinic, including scheduling, check-in and pick-up of patients, as well as miscellaneous administrative duties and special events
- Provide supervision and support to clinic staff members
- Oversee the maintenance of all program files and records
- Knowledge of and strict compliance with laws, rules and regulations set forth in county and state requirements for operation of a veterinary clinic
- Ensure veterinary medical and other equipment is regularly serviced and maintained
- Establish annual budget amounts for assigned program accounts
- Send daily reports about clinic operations to the supervisor and other designated parties
- Establish and maintain contacts with local animal control, sheltering and adoption agencies throughout the clinic’s service region and provide education and outreach about clinic services
- Prepare and present monthly reports and other data to the supervisor and other designated parties
- Develop and maintain relationships with community sponsors
- Participate in the creation and execution of special events to fundraise for PETA’s high-volume spay/neuter program
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor
Requirements
- Degree in a related field or equivalent experience strongly preferred
- Preferred minimum of three years of experience managing veterinary clinics OR an equivalent combination of proven effective management or leadership experience
- Demonstrated ability to make independent decisions in crisis situations needing authority intervention
- Proven excellent interpersonal skills, tact, diplomacy, and the ability to communicate effectively
- Exceptional organizational and planning skills and meticulous attention to detail
- Willingness and ability to be available after hours and on weekends
- Professional appearance
- Ability to lift patients, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid U.S. driver’s license, a minimum of three years of driving experience, and a satisfactory driving record
- Support for PETA’s philosophy and the ability to professionally advocate PETA’s positions on issues
- This position requires proof of the COVID-19 full vaccination
