Charlie – Rescued Racehorse Runs Into His New Guardian’s Heart
Like so many Thoroughbreds used for racing before him, Charlie’s Quest was on the brink of a fatal breakdown. He had been drugged and forced to run for years, despite having multiple injuries and fractures. After PETA’s exposé of Thoroughbred trainer Steve Asmussen, we were able to rescue Charlie and find him the perfect home. Now, he has the freedom to graze on grass and play in a big pasture with his new friends, fellow rescued horses Henry and Caroline. And unlike when he was on the track, Charlie now runs only when he wants to.
What You Can Do
Please urge your U.S. representative to support the Horseracing Integrity and Safety Act of 2015 (H.R. 2641), which would increase oversight of drug use in horse racing and raise penalties for drug overuse.
