Following pressure from PETA, Dunkin’ has ended its vegan milk upcharge. Below, please find a statement from PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman:
America runs on vegan! After hearing from PETA and more than 35,000 of its members and supporters, Dunkin’ has joined the rapidly growing list of coffee chains that have stopped charging extra for the vegan milks that are kind to cows, their calves, and the planet. Change is percolating in the coffee business, and PETA is calling on holdouts like Peet’s Coffee to follow suit and stop milking conscientious customers at the animals’ and planet’s expense.
PETA points out that in addition to being cruel to cows, the dairy industry is a major producer of the greenhouse gases fueling the climate catastrophe. Dunkin’ joins several other chains—including Starbucks, Dutch Bros, Blue Bottle Coffee, Panera Bread, Philz Coffee, Pret A Manger, Stumptown Coffee Roasters, and Tim Hortons—in offering dairy-free milk at no extra charge. PETA is calling on Peet’s Coffee to follow suit.
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—points out that Every Animal Is Someone and offers free Empathy Kits for people who need a lesson in kindness. PETA’s free vegan starter kit can help anyone looking to make the switch. For more information, please visit PETA.org or follow PETA on X, Facebook, or Instagram.
