Top Oscar®️ Nominees May Help PETA Pull the Plug on SeaWorld

An inflatable orca emblazoned with “SeaWorld … BLOWS” and an “Empty the Tanks” waterproof beach bag are on the way from PETA to top Oscar^®️ nominees—including PETA pal Penélope Cruz and past PETA honoree Jessica Chastain—courtesy of the prestigious “Everyone Wins” Nominee Gift Bags. Independently distributed by premier gifting company Distinctive Assets in the lead-up to the ceremony on Sunday, PETA’s gifts—designed to shine a spotlight on SeaWorld’s cruelty in keeping captive marine animals—also include prestamped postcards that the stars can send to SeaWorld’s CEO to urge his company to stop forcibly breeding dolphins and retire all the marine mammals to seaside sanctuaries.

“With their immense talents and powerful platforms, this year’s top Oscar^®️ nominees can all be winners in marine-mammal protection by letting this abusement park know that they want the animals out of there,” says PETA President Ingrid Newkirk. “PETA hopes our gifts will inspire compassionate celebrities to call on SeaWorld to give these long-suffering orcas and dolphins a long-awaited retirement.”

In their natural ocean environments, orcas often swim up to 140 miles a day, while other dolphins can swim up to 60 miles. SeaWorld confines these animals to barren concrete tanks, where they suffer from psychological harm from stress and frustration. Often housed with incompatible tankmates, orcas are regularly drugged to relieve the endless monotony of swimming in circles. More than 40 orcas, 300 other dolphins and whales, 400 pinnipeds, and countless other animals have died in SeaWorld’s cramped tanks.
