Vegan turkey roasts are coming to roost in Cedar Park, courtesy of PETA supporters who will gather inside the H-E-B store on E. Whitestone Boulevard tomorrow and give away Tofurky roasts to encourage people to keep intelligent, inquisitive, and sensitive birds off the table and celebrate “ThanksVegan” instead.
When: Saturday, November 19, 12 noon
Where: H-E-B (inside the front entrance), 170 E. Whitestone Blvd. (near N. Bell Boulevard), Cedar Park
“Turkeys are gentle individuals who love their families, feel pain and fear, and want to live as much as humans do,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “PETA is encouraging everyone to see the similarities among all sentient beings, eat vegan, and spare turkeys, about 45 million of whom are slaughtered every year for Thanksgiving alone.”
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat” and which opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview—offers ThanksVegan recipes on its website.
