PETA is donating boxes of its “I ♥ Vegan Tacos” T-shirts to the Rescue Mission of El Paso—and to go with them, the group is providing the shelter with shredded jackfruit to use as a quick and easy vegan taco filling.
“Vegan tacos are not only tasty but also healthy and easy to make, so it’s no wonder that vegan Tex-Mex is growing in popularity across the Southwest, and we’re happy to help shelter residents share in the trend,” says PETA Senior Vice President Dan Mathews. “PETA hopes our small gift will help the Rescue Mission of El Paso continue its great work.”
Jackfruit tacos are 100 percent free of saturated animal fat and cholesterol, are kind to animals, and don’t harm the environment as meat production does. Going vegan dramatically reduces your carbon footprint and spares more than 100 animals every year daily suffering and a terrifying death in the meat, egg, and dairy industries.
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—is also donating shirts and taco filling to Good Neighbor Settlement House in Brownsville and Bethany House of Laredo in Laredo.
