In a nationwide battle royal to see who takes the cake, HaleLife Bakery has come out in the top tier. Beating out eateries from across the country, the local favorite clinched a spot on PETA’s list of the Top 10 Vegan Sweet Treats in the U.S. for its Tiramisu Trifle. This luscious treat consists of a vanilla streusel base and silky marshmallow fluff, sponge cake, and pastry cream filling. Topped with espresso vegan cheesecake, espresso crumble, and chocolate ganache sauce, it’s perfect for Valentine’s Day—or any day!
Everything at HaleLife is 100% vegan and free of allergens such as gluten, soy, tree nuts, and peanuts. To celebrate PETA’s award, the bakery is offering customers individual-size servings of its Tiramisu Trifle starting on February 18.
“HaleLife’s delightful Tiramisu Trifle and animal-friendly menu create a recipe for success,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “All the eateries on PETA’s list prove that it’s as easy as vegan pie to dish out delicious treats that are also sweet to animals this Valentine’s Day.”
Consumers’ demand for vegan food out of concern for animals, the environment, and their health has sent the vegan food market skyrocketing: It grew two and a half times faster in 2021 than it did between 2018 and 2020, and it’s expected to reach $22 billion by 2025.
Other winners on PETA’s list include Sweet To Lick in Williston Park, New York; Jalen’s Bakery in Fresno, California; and Sprig & Vine in New Hope, Pennsylvania. Each eatery will receive a framed certificate from PETA, which offers free vegan Valentine’s Day dessert recipes on its website along with a selection of sweet gifts from the PETA Shop.
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview. For more information, please visit PETA.org or follow the group on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram.
