To kick off National Pizza Day (February 9) and Super Bowl LVIII (February 11), one of the biggest days of the year for pizza sales, PETA has drafted its picks for the Top 10 Vegan Pizzas in the U.S., and with its tangy Pickle Back pizza—a hand-tossed pie topped with house-made red sauce, Udderless plant-based cheese, dill pickles, soy chorizo, and a swirl of hot pepper relish on a white sesame seed crust—local pie joint The Hop Craft Pizza & Beer has scored a spot on the list.
“No matter how you slice it, the dillicious Pickle Back pizza from The Hop Craft Pizza & Beer delivers flavor that can’t be topped,” says PETA President Ingrid Newkirk. “Every mouthwatering pizza on PETA’s list proves that eating vegan is a winning game plan.”
Every person who goes vegan spares nearly 200 animals each year daily suffering and a terrifying death and reduces their own risk of developing heart disease and cancer. PETA’s free vegan starter kit can help those looking to make the switch.
The Hop Craft Pizza & Beer will receive a framed certificate from PETA along with bragging rights. Other winners include the Bangkok pizza at Red House Pizza in San Diego, the Balboa pizza at 20th Street Pizza in Philadelphia, and the Vegan Meat Lovers pizza at Pizza Head in St. Louis.
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—points out that Every Animal Is Someone and offers free Empathy Kits for people who need a lesson in kindness. For more information, please visit PETA.org or follow the group on X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, or Instagram.
