Three PETA gals—dressed as sexy pizza slices—will hit the streets on Wednesday to dish up free vegan pizza to Winnipeg residents. At the event, which coincides with the Manitoba Dairy Conference in Winnipeg—an industry recently exposed for cruelty to animals in an undercover investigation—PETA, whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat,” will remind passersby that everyone can enjoy a slice of vegan life by trying healthy, delicious plant-based foods.
When: Wednesday, December 3, 12 p.m.
Where: Northeast corner of Portage Avenue and Edmonton Street, Winnipeg
“With so many filling, mouth-watering vegan milks, cheeses, and yogurts available, it’s time to give dairy products the boot,” says PETA Senior Vice President Lisa Lange. “Every person can help spare cows a lifetime of suffering as milk machines on filthy dairy farms by choosing one of the many restaurants now deliciously meeting the demand for top-quality vegan dishes.”
Vegan-friendly restaurants are easier to find than ever, as are major grocery stores stocked with a wide variety of vegan cheese options.
Fortified almond and soy milk contain high levels of essential nutrients such as calcium, vitamin D, protein, and vitamin B12, with none of the cruelty of dairy milk, which is laden with cholesterol and saturated animal fat and has been linked to everything from allergies and acne to heart disease and cancer.
