PETA is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction on cruelty charges of the person(s) responsible for wrapping the head and legs of a dog named Leo—a small, tan-and-white Cavalier King Charles spaniel–poodle mix—in duct tape and leaving him in a dumpster. He was found by an employee of the accounting firm Sweet & Associates near 132nd Street and W. Center Road at around 10 a.m. on Monday. Staff at the Nebraska Humane Society removed the duct tape and returned Leo to his guardian, Erin Dillon-Pasillas, who had reported him missing on April 11. With the addition of a $5,000 reward offered by the Nebraska Humane Society, the total reward in this case is now up to $10,000.
No leads or suspects have been identified, so PETA is asking for the public’s help.
“The terror that this little dog must have endured as a cruel person wrapped his head and legs in duct tape, leaving him in a dumpster and barely able to breathe, is unthinkable,” says PETA Senior Vice President Colleen O’Brien. “PETA asks anyone with information to come forward immediately before the individual responsible hurts or kills someone else.”
Anyone with information related to the case should contact the Nebraska Humane Society’s animal control line at 402-444-7800, ext. 1.
