Rabbits’ Screams Headed to Fur-Peddler BCBG Max Azria

At Peak of Holiday Shopping Season, PETA Will Blast NYC Flagship Store With Sounds and Sights of Fur and Angora Wool Farms

Have you ever heard a rabbit screaming in pain? Holiday shoppers on Fifth Avenue will get the chance to on Tuesday, when PETA members gather outside BCBG Max Azria’s flagship store and display a graphic exposé from PETA Asia’s recent investigation revealing how animals suffer and die for angora and fur—two items sold by the retailer, despite a wide public outcry against their cruel production.

“If BCBG Max Azria won’t listen to the consumers who refuse to buy fur and angora wool, maybe it will listen to the cries of rabbits caught screaming on PETA’s video,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “Only a total Grinch would try to profit from the fur that is ripped out of and peeled off conscious animals’ skin, and we’re calling on the company to drop these vile products for good.”

As PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to wear”—reveals in the video, workers on angora rabbit farms tie rabbits down and rip the fur out of their skin, leaving behind bloody wounds, while the animals scream in pain. Raccoon dogs on fur farms are slammed to the ground and beaten before their skin is peeled off. One animal in the video even lifts his head and blinks after his skin has been removed. Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Inditex, Limited Brands, H&M, Gap Inc., and Victoria’s Secret have all completely banned both fur and angora.
