Tomorrow, courtesy of a generous donation by Plant Based Foods, PETA will drop off a 30-pound package of three different types of vegan cheese—including mozzarella and cheddar—to Vita Nova Pizza & Pasta Bar, which will offer the “cheese” as a special item for the rest of the month.
When: Tuesday, September 22, 4:15–5:15 p.m.
Where: Vita Nova Pizza & Pasta Bar, 310 E. Main St., Charlottesville
“No matter how you slice it, vegan cheese is delicious and kind to cows—so it’s a great choice,” says PETA President Ingrid Newkirk. “PETA is pleased as pizza pie to help Vita Nova’s diners enjoy dairy-free delights.”
PETA notes that opting for vegan cheese prevents mother cows from being artificially impregnated and then separated from their newborn calves so that their milk can be consumed by humans instead. Vegans also enjoy a lower risk of suffering from heart disease, cancer, strokes, and diabetes than meat-eaters do.
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat or abuse in any other way”—opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview. For more information, please visit PETA.org.
