On the heels of the release of her HBO special and first-ever original song “Someday You’ll Die”—and fresh off her show-stealing turn at the Tom Brady roast—comedian Nikki Glaser is baring it all in a bold new campaign for PETA that shows her in her element at a stand-up performance, but the goal of this set is to inspire everyone to leave animals in peace by shopping vegan.

Glaser brings her signature dry humor to an accompanying video spot, which sees her rocking a chic faux-leather jacket and a much-loved bag made of apple leather: “I know you’re scared ’cause you think you won’t look as cool without, like, real-leather things,” she says, addressing anyone still favoring animal-derived materials. “But I promise you, if that is what your personality is dependent on, you need to go to therapy.”

PETA entities have released scores of investigations exposing extreme harm wrought on animals for clothing and accessories. Videos have revealed that workers hit, kick, and mutilate gentle sheep for their wool; leave sensitive goats with bloody, gaping wounds at mohair and cashmere operations; burn, electroshock, beat, and slaughter cows for leather; yank out the feathers of ducks and geese by the fistful for down; and imprison minks and other animals in filthy wire cages on fur factory farms. Fortunately, eco- and animal-friendly vegan materials are widely available at retailers everywhere, and PETA’s “How to Wear Vegan” guide can help anyone make their wardrobe animal-free.

“You would never put your dog through what sheep have to go through to give up their wool. So stop hiding from the truth. I know it sucks. I hate to tell you this way,” Glaser concludes. “And also, your parents had sex to make you.”

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to wear”—points out thatEvery Animal Is Someone and offers free Empathy Kits for people who need a lesson in kindness. For more information, please visit PETA.org or follow the group on X, Facebook, or Instagram.
