What: Wearing little more than underwear and bearing heart-shaped signs that read, “Vegans Make Better Lovers,” three female PETA supporters will bed down at a busy Calgary intersection on Tuesday. The sexy trio will remind anyone eager to please his or her partner this Valentine’s Day that eating meat can put a damper on bedroom time—by reducing blood flow to all the body’s organs.
When: Tuesday, February 14, 12:30 p.m.
Where: At the intersection of Second Street S.W. and Eighth Avenue S.W., Calgary
“What goes on in the kitchen has a lot to do with what goes on—or doesn’t—in the bedroom,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “PETA’s message is that whether you’re after a sizzling physique or an increase in stamina, ditching meat and dairy foods for good is a great way to boost performance.”
PETA, whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat,” notes that the consumption of meat, eggs, and dairy foods has been linked to heart disease, strokes, diabetes, obesity, and cancer—as well as higher rates of impotence. And each person who goes vegan spares more than 100 animals a year immense suffering on factory farms, in slaughterhouses, and on the decks of fishing boats.
