As baseball fever sweeps the nation, there’s good news for animal-friendly Biloxi Shuckers fans: MGM Park has landed the number three spot in its debut appearance on PETA’s newest list of the Top Five Vegetarian-Friendly Minor League Ballparks. Delicious meat-free concession favorites include spicy black-bean burgers and vegan hot dogs, while suites and specialty stands boast the Deep South Garden Salad, the Mississippi Market Basket vegetable tray, and a delectable fruit platter.
“MGM Park stands out from the pack with its delicious plant-based fare,” says Kenneth Montville, PETA’s senior campaign strategist. “It’s easier than ever to choose healthy animal-free options while cheering on teams across the country—and PETA is calling on others to get in on the rising trend now.”
The number one spot in the minors goes to the New Britain Rock Cats’ New Britain Stadium, followed by the Tulsa Drillers’ ONEOK Field in second. Rounding out the top five is the Pensacola Blue Wahoos’ Pensacola Bayfront Stadium in fourth place and the Erie SeaWolves’ Jerry Uht Park in fifth. Top honors in the majors went to Dodger Stadium, home of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
MGM Park will receive a framed certificate from PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat.”
