Waving signs proclaiming, “Try the Beyond Meatball Sub Today,” PETA members will give away the delicious new sub (made vegan by forgoing the cheese) to passersby and visitors outside a local Subway on Wednesday, along with coupons for purchasing the sandwich at participating Subway restaurants throughout the month of October.
When: Wednesday, October 16, 12 noon
Where: Subway, at the intersection of S. Second and W. Market streets, Louisville
“This game-changing sub goes above and beyond boring old meatball sandwiches and is proof that the vegan dining revolution has reached America’s largest restaurant chain,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “PETA urges diners to save animals’ lives and the planet by opting for this plant-powered, protein-packed sub.”
Each person who goes vegan spares nearly 200 animals a year daily suffering and a terrifying death in today’s meat industry—and they help combat climate change and deforestation, as more than 80% of the Amazon rainforest that’s been cleared since 1970 is used for meat production.
The Beyond Meatball Marinara sub will be available at select Subway restaurants in California, Indianapolis, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi, and Pennsylvania as well as in Canada throughout October.
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—opposes speciesism, which is a human-supremacist worldview. For more information, please visit PETA.org.
