To sprinkle National Donut Day (June 7) with vegan flavor, PETA has concocted a list of the top eateries from across the U.S. that are dishing up the most delectable donuts without relying on eggs or dairy—and Kaimukī’s own Little Vessels Donut Co. nabbed a spot on this super-sweet list. The all-vegan donut stand offers a lip-smacking lineup of unique flavors, including Guava Cookie Mac Nut, Lemon Black Sesame, and Miso Caramel Furikake.
“Little Vessels Donut Co. is dishing up cruelty-free crullers of the highest caliber right in the heart of Honolulu,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “Every aglazeing bakery on PETA’s list proves that melt-in-your-mouth vegan donuts are jelly good to hens and cows as well as humans’ taste buds.”
In the egg and dairy industries, hens and female cows are exploited until their bodies break down and they’re sent to slaughter. Every person who goes vegan saves the lives of nearly 200 animals each year. PETA’s free vegan starter kit can help those looking to make the switch.
Little Vessels Donut Co. will receive a framed certificate from PETA along with bragging rights. Other winners include Cake Thieves Bakery & Eatery in San Antonio; Bitchin’ Donuts in Albany, New York; Level 5 Donuts in Madison, Wisconsin; Yellow Rose Vegan Bakery & Cafe in Maplewood, New Jersey; and Veg.Edible in Omaha, Nebraska.
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—points out that Every Animal Is Someone and offers free Empathy Kits for people who need a lesson in kindness. For more information, please visit PETA.org or follow the group on X, Facebook, or Instagram.
