What: With a crying, chained inflatable orca in tow, PETA protesters will descend on the Boston AAA office to urge the company to end its promotions of SeaWorld. Throughout the summer, similar protests will continue to take place at AAA branch locations across the country.
“No reputable company would want to be mentioned in the same breath as SeaWorld, which has killed 40 orcas to date and sentenced many more to miserable lives in concrete prisons,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “PETA is calling on AAA to leave this cruel abusement park in the dust.”
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to use for entertainment”—has long called on SeaWorld to close its tiny tanks and develop seaside sanctuaries for the orcas. Numerous organizations and companies—including the Miami Dolphins, STA Travel, Taco Bell, and JetBlue, Southwest, and United airlines—have ended their affiliations with SeaWorld as the company’s cruelty has come to light.
When: Friday, August 10, 12 noon
Where: AAA office, 125 High St., Boston
