Comic Books From PETA Arrive at Wolfson Children’s Hospital
Medical Center Receives 100 Animal-Friendly Comics in Honor of ‘Free Comic Book Day’ and a Visiting Dog Policy

In honor of Free Comic Book Day on May 5, PETA has sent the Wolfson Children’s Hospital a donation of 100 animal-friendly comics—titled A Rat’s Life, A Dog’s Life, and A Cow’s Life—for tiny patients to enjoy. PETA is donating the gifts to the hospital because it was one of the first to establish a program allowing companion dogs to visit patients staying more than five days.
“The Wolfson Children’s Hospital has shown its sensitivity to the vital roles that animals play in our lives,” says PETA President Ingrid Newkirk. “Kids love animals—they’re friends, not food, and they’re like brothers and sisters to them—so PETA’s comic books should cheer kids up and teach them that all animals have superhero qualities.”
PETA’s kid-friendly comic books teach easy-to-understand lessons about animals, including that cows have unique personalities and a wide range of emotions and they suffer in the dairy and leather industries, that rats spend hours grooming themselves and love to play and explore and they suffer when used in cruel experiments, and that dogs should be treated as part of the family, not left chained up outside.
