As an animal lover with a fondness for fashion, the Kentucky Derby leaves me conflicted: obviously, the racing industry is cruel, rife with injuries, drug abuse, and slaughter. But the tradition of wearing big hats and fancy dresses is enough to make me swoon. The compromise? I came up with a trio of Southern Belle outfits—all vegan, of course!—and two things you can do to help horses. True fashionistas know that being gorgeous means behaving like a class act and not supporting cruelty to animals.
