Have you heard of the viral Turkish pasta recipe? This unique, flavor-packed recipe went viral after influencer Anna Paul shared it, but it’s inspired by a traditional Turkish dish called manti. Manti are small dumplings usually stuffed with ground beef or lamb, topped with a garlicky yogurt sauce, and then finished with a chili-infused butter or olive oil drizzle. Traditional manti and the viral Turkish pasta can be kinder to animals with just a few simple swaps.
…With Vegan Ground Beef
Thee Burger Dude’s recipe uses store-bought vegan ground beef (we suggest Beyond Beef, but you could also use Gardein’s Ground Be’f, or easily make your own with textured vegetable protein). This version probably offers the closest texture and flavor to the original recipe, but it is kind to cows, who are gentle, social individuals who just want to live.
…With Lentils
This version uses one of our all-time favorite vegan protein sources—trusty lentils! They are inexpensive, super tasty, and packed with protein and fiber. Like the other recipes here, this version uses unsweetened plain vegan yogurt for the tangy sauce on top.
…With Tofu Mince
You can’t go wrong with tofu, and in this recipe, it’s shredded, then slowly cooked in a flavorful sauce made with dark soy sauce and spices until it gets chewy and a little crispy. This process can also be done by crisping up shredded tofu in the air fryer and then finishing it in a pan with the sauce.
Why Make Vegan Turkish Pasta?
Viral recipes are a blast, and making vegan versions can help us keep up with the fun trends while saving countless animals. Cows are playful individuals, loving mothers, and loyal friends. They deserve to live their lives in peace, but the meat and dairy industries exploit them for their flesh and milk. By simply going vegan, we can make a huge impact.
