The Greek gyro is a casual wrap much like the sandwich. It consists of a hearty, savory filling wrapped in a flatbread, such as pita. This particular vegan gyro recipe features protein-filled portobello mushroom strips topped with dairy-free tzatziki sauce. Add optional diced tomatoes and onions, and you’re good to go.
A very important element to the wrap, this vegan version is made of tahini, hemp seeds, garlic, lemon juice, fresh herbs, and cucumbers. You can try it out with different herb combinations for a change of flavor.
