If you live in the Southeastern U.S., chances are good that you’ve spent some time at Publix. But because the selection there can be a little overwhelming, you may not have noticed that the store is a veritable vegan paradise! It’s true: In addition to having a plethora of produce and piles of staples like rice and legumes, your neighborhood Publix is chock-full of other tasty foods that no animals suffered for. So grab your reusable bags and clip your coupons—because we’re going shopping for vegan food at Publix.
I like to start with dessert first. (Sorry, Mom.) Publix has Ben & Jerry’s Non-Dairy Frozen Desserts galore.
Try a scoop on top of these Pepperidge Farm Apple Turnovers—yes, they’re vegan!
The day I discovered that Publix carries rich, creamy vegan Daiya Cheezecakes, I knew I was in trouble. They’re so yummy that I’ve fooled a lot of nonvegans with them (and they now ask me if I have any more).
Maybe you’re more of a cookie person? You can stock up on your fave Enjoy Life Soft Baked or Crunchy Cookies …
… or the must-have Lenny & Larry’s Complete Cookie.
Cheese addicts, this is just a small sampling of the selection at Publix:
And can we talk about all the vegan deli slices? There’s Field Roast …
… Tofurky, and more.
If you’re looking for dairy-free milk, Publix has got you covered.
And yogurt? Yep—that, too. Grab some Kite Hill Artisan Almond Milk Yogurt …
… So Delicious Dairy Free Coconutmilk Yogurt …
… or Califia Farms Probiotic Dairy Free Yogurt.
I know what you’re thinking: “OK, José, where’s the real food?” Well, check out all these vegan options! Publix carries a huge selection of burgers, including the Beyond Meat Beyond Burger (one of my personal favorites) …
… Qrunch Organics varieties …
… yummy selections from Dr. Praeger’s …
… Carla Lee’s Nut Burgers …
… Gardein Ultimate Beefless Sliders …
… and the Field Roast Hand-Formed FieldBurger.
For a campfire-and–hot-dogs night, pick up Lightlife Smart Dogs …
… Lightlife Smart Sausages …
… Field Roast Sausages …
… or Field Roast Frankfurters.
And these are just a few of the many, many delicious options that Publix has to offer. For more vegan foods at your fingertips, check out PETA’s list of “accidentally vegan” breakfast items, baked goods, staples, desserts, and snacks.
