In celebration of Earth Day (April 22), PETA has teamed up with Los Angeles–area vegan restaurant chain Monty’s Good Burger for an exclusive animal- and planet-friendly milkshake.
The cake batter–flavored shake is made with creamy Oatly oat milk–based soft serve and features multi-colored sprinkles. It will be available at all four Monty’s locations from April 20 to 27 only—so don’t miss your chance to try this tasty creation!
Together, PETA and Monty’s are reminding people that going vegan is the best thing they can do to help slow the effects of the climate catastrophe. The dairy industry’s carbon footprint is off the charts: It pollutes the atmosphere with massive amounts of methane and ammonia, contaminates waterways with agricultural runoff, and destroys land in order to grow the enormous amount of crops needed to feed cows.
In addition, going vegan is the best thing humans can do for other animals, who are used and killed by the billions in the meat, egg, and dairy industries each year. Cows produce milk to nourish their babies, but the dairy industry tears calves away from their mothers shortly after birth. Every animal is someone—not something—and these playful, loving individuals deserve to live in peace.
A milkshake made with cow’s milk is anything but sweet, but you can rest easy knowing that no animals were forced to suffer for this one from Monty’s. If you don’t live in the Los Angeles area, don’t worry. Monty’s is just one of the many businesses across the country serving delicious vegan milkshakes that are good for animals and the planet.
