On Wednesday we celebrated 35 years of victories for animals—and what better way to mark the occasion than by dishing up 1,200 gourmet vegan meals for guests like Sir Paul McCartney, RZA, Kesha, James Cromwell, William H. Macy, Joaquin Phoenix, Jason Biggs, Anjelica Huston, George Lopez, and Bill Maher?
From DLS Events Catering and Spork Foods, the entirely plant-based menu, featuring items donated by Gardein, was unlike that of any other awards show, as you can see from these photos of some of the tasty dishes:
The following are just some of the featured items:
- Hor d’œuvres included Gardein Golden Fishless Filet taco sliders, dairy-free roasted tomato bisque, and peanut, spinach, and scallion pot stickers with Gardein Beefless Ground.
- Dinner featured a chopped bistro salad of seasonal vegetables topped with a tofu croquette, Panzanella (Gardein Crispy Chick’n Filets topped with Kite Hill vegan cheese), Korean barbecue tofu fried rice, and classic Argentinian empanadas stuffed with Gardein Beefless Strips and topped with a roasted chimichurri sauce.
- The dessert spread included ginger pumpkin hand pies, Mexican chocolate brownies with hazelnut crème, and mini rum bundt cakes—all dairy- and egg-free and delicious.
So did James Cromwell and company:
Scandal star Bellamy Young was thankful:
TV host Kamie Crawford demanded a recipe:
E! Online’s Marc Malkin made the menu known:
Daniella Monet thought the food was “heavenly”:
