Confused? Dairy farms use the above tools to dehorn cattle, a painful procedure in which calves and cattle have their horns and horn buds cut off. That’s right—cows have their horns literally BURNED or CHOPPED OFF. These barbaric procedures are excruciatingly painful.

These photos show exactly how painful and disturbing the process of dehorning is. If a human had that kind of gaping, bloody wound, he or she would be rushed to the hospital. However, these cattle are just left to suffer without any painkillers or veterinary care whatsoever.
