PETA Offers Up to $5,000 Reward for Info Leading to Safe Recovery of Missing, Abused Portland, Ore., Dog

Have you seen this Portland, Oregon, dog? We’re offering up to $5,000 as a reward for information leading to the location and safe recovery of this animal, who was abused before disappearing. This dog is surely frightened and traumatized and may be seriously injured or confined without food or water.

We don’t currently know the age, name, or sex of the dog, who apparently is a black, medium-sized shorthair breed. They were last seen in the 500 block of N.E. Holladay Street on August 2 but may be far away from this area now.

Animal Abusers Don’t Stop at One Time

A suspect in the case, Isaac Booker Justham, was reportedly arrested on August 17 and charged with three felony counts of first-degree aggravated animal abuse.

This dog’s guardian was caught on video bludgeoning them with a heavy rope, hanging them by the neck from a fire extinguisher, and repeatedly kicking them inside an elevator on August 2. And that’s just what the video footage shows.

This dog has likely endured a lifetime of trauma and abuse by their guardian, who is supposed to provide care, love, and protection from harm.

Abusers frequently leave evidence of their crimes, even going so far as to abuse their victims in broad daylight. They depend on the isolation of their victims to continue the abuse.

Animals can feel pain, stress, and fear, just like humans, but they can’t call a friend, a hotline, or the authorities when they’re beaten, starved, or left outside in the heat or cold.

Please, never walk away from a situation in which an animal is in danger or distress. Instead, speak up and take action, including by calling the authorities.
