Inches From Death: PETA-Supported Team in Ukraine Hit by Drone Attack

After the successful rescue of a mother dog and her puppies near the front lines, PETA-supported Animal Rescue Kharkiv’s team was driving to get them to safety when, suddenly, their truck was bombed on the empty road—a drone attack!

Thankfully, the canine family and the members of the rescue team all survived and are now safe. The explosive destroyed the vehicle’s engine. Had they been going just slightly faster, all the passengers would have been hit and likely killed.

After the strike, the team members hid themselves and the animals in the nearby undergrowth while they waited for help. Unfortunately, the rescue team’s truck—vital for evacuating animals in need—is irreparably damaged.

How You Can Help: Support PETA’s Global Compassion Fund Today

Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, PETA Germany and its partners have been on the ground building a robust network of rescue workers—saving more than 17,000 cats, dogs, horses, and others so far. In order to continue helping animals in the war zone, Animal Rescue Kharkiv needs a new truck and drone defense systems, which would steer incoming missiles off course. To help, please donate to PETA’s Global Compassion Fund.

PETA’s Global Compassion Fund is supported exclusively by the contributions of kind individuals like you. Your gift helps PETA entities and partners create positive, sustainable change in corners of the Earth where animals desperately need assistance—and may have no other hope.

Your generous support helps make the world a better place for all animals. Please, give what you can today.
