PHOTOS: PETA Latino Throws a Fun Fiesta for Its Tenth Anniversary
PETA Latino threw a thrilling and star-studded 10th anniversary party in Los Angeles on August 24, 2023. The celebratory evening marked a major milestone, reminding everyone in attendance and beyond how committed to compassionate action for animals PETA Latino has been for a decade.
Honoring PETA Latino and Hitting Up the 10th Anniversary Party
PETA Latino is a PETA outreach division that serves as a resource for Spanish-speaking communities in the U.S. and Latin America and began its work in 2013. Although the group focuses much of its efforts on campaigns specific to Latin America, it helps fuel all of PETA’s campaigns. PETA Latino has had a huge impact on advancing animal rights in the Latino community and has been successful thanks to its innovative social media presence, colorful demonstrations, and collaborations with compassionate Latino stars.
The group’s 10th anniversary party took place at PETA’s Los Angeles office and was hosted by honorary PETA board member Kate del Castillo.
“If we went back in time 10 years and were told that there would be no circuses with animals in Guatemala and Mexico or that several cities and states in Colombia, Mexico, and Spain would stop bullfighting, we probably wouldn’t have believed it. But all this and more was achieved, thanks to the efforts of PETA Latino and many animal advocates throughout Latin America.”

L.A.’s own Señoreata catered the glittering event, serving delicious, modern, vegan Cuban cuisine. Señoreata is the first plant-based winner of The Great Food Truck Race on Food Network.
Entertainment abounded, including live music performed by local mariachi trio Rodrigo Rodriguez Diaz and his Mariachi Romanza.
In a powerful speech, PETA Latino Manager of Communications Gabriel Ochoa summed up the group’s impact:
The changes in these 10 years are evident—we see them in the general culture, in the media, in social networks, even in the laws. However, there is still a long way to go, and we look forward to continuing this fight with you.
As part of the fun, PETA Latino provided eight different types of “animal ears” that attendees tried on, taking photos that they posted across social media. The event also featured lollipops with different animal rights messages, including “End Speciesism,” “Anti-Bullfight,” and “Vegan”—plus a step-and-repeat backdrop that influencers stood in front of, taking photos and creating content.
Bright Stars at PETA Latino’s 10th Anniversary Toast
Some especially vibrant celebrities and influencers attended the stellar evening. Del Castillo’s parents—Kate Trillo and legendary Mexican actor Eric del Castillo—were champions of charm.
Other kind celebrities in attendance included Stéphanie Gérard, Constance Marie, Jocelyn Rivas, and the band AMOR.
Flourishing influencers, including Rosa Acosta, Tabay, Yvette Gonzalez, Will Moncada, and Veco, made the event even more magical.
Del Castillo closed the event with a moving dedication to the orca Lolita, who recently passed away:
This is for Lolita. The fight will go on in her name. Happy birthday, PETA Latino!
PETA Latino Is Grateful for YOU: Please Keep Taking Action
PETA Latino thanks everyone for their support over the past 10 years—what a monumental achievement! Many thanks as well to all those who attended the party. One of the most inspiring quotes of the evening came from PETA Latino Senior Manager of Online Marketing Yennifer Martinez:
Together, we’ve turned PETA Latino into an international powerhouse for animals reaching every corner of the Spanish-speaking world, and we’re so excited to see what we’ll accomplish together for animals in the next 10 years!
Although rejoicing as a community is important and fun, we’re truly celebrating nonstop action for animals. Ask your family and friends to become a part of PETA Latino’s advocacy network and support the group’s work. The more PETA Latino grows, the closer we’ll all be to the day when humans treat all animals with the respect and compassion they deserve.
