Don’t Be Fooled By Ortho Mouse Trap
Consumers duped into purchasing Ortho Home Defense MAX Kill & Contain Mouse Traps have reported finding mice writhing and squealing inside the traps. Scotts Miracle-Gro Company, the maker of the traps, falsely promised a speedy death and “no mess,” but the traps delivered anything but.
Customers took to Scotts’ website and other consumer websites to complain that the traps broke the mice’s backs or legs, leaving them to die a lingering, painful death from their injuries or from starvation, dehydration, or hypothermia. Several consumers’ children were reportedly traumatized after hearing the cries of dying mice and seeing parts of their mangled bodies dangling out of the traps.
In response to the outcry, Scotts made even more false claims, this time saying that they had constructed a “new and improved” trap. This proved false, and the complaints have continued. One consumer was horrified to find a mouse’s body sticking out of the trap and his countertop covered in blood from the animal’s injuries.
