PETA’s Victories and Accomplishments

A Maryland Preparatory school had planned to offer up a puppy at an auction event, but compassionately decided to remove the puppy from the list of auction items after speaking with PETA.

After we explained how cruel and unsanitary glue traps are, we persuaded the University of California–San Francisco Medical Center’s management to make the compassionate choice to switch to less cruel alternatives.

After hearing that a fraternity was hosting a party with “goldfish shots” we took action to ensure that this portion of the party was canceled.

After contacting a Canadian University’s facilities management department, and it compassionately agreed to begin removing the glue traps immediately and never to use them again!

PETA worked with local legislators and activists in Suffolk, Virginia, to address the suffering of chained dogs, and the city council voted to ban the cruel practice.

After being contacted by PETA, Woodley’s Fine Furniture, Colorado’s leading hardwood furniture manufacturer, stated that it “will not buy any products with down going forward.”

We let the university’s president know just how dangerously unsanitary and horrible glue traps are, and he immediately made the compassionate decision to have the vendor switch to less cruel and safer methods.

After horrific abuse videos were posted on YouTube, PETA contacted law enforcement, who confirmed that both individuals received citations for mistreating animals.

Gilt Groupe, an online retailer that offers deals on today’s top designer labels, agreed to pull its Ringling Bros. promotions in New York and New Jersey after hearing from PETA!

In response PETA’s complaint, the U.S. Department of Agriculture cited the company for egregious violations of the Animal Welfare Act and took the additional rare step of fining the facility $2,625 for the violations.

A residential housing community in Las Vegas that was planning to poison pigeons compassionately changed their mind after concerned residents contacted PETA.

After discussions with PETA, Pangea Organics announced that it will end all sales of its products in China, where animal tests for cosmetics are required.

Following a complaint filed by PETA, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) inspected UW-Madison and confirmed the abuse of cats in a taxpayer-funded brain experiment at the UW–Madison.
