PETA continues to encourage racetrack operators to add more vegan options to their menus—and now, Richmond International Raceway, which hosts the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and XFINITY Series, introduced a vegan Thai noodle salad with tofu.
After PETA engaged with ALDI U.S., the grocer—which operates more than 1,500 stores in 33 states—updated its animal-welfare policy to include its support for polled (hornless) breeding: “[W]e support the development of breeding programs for polled (hornless) cows, which would eliminate the need for [dehorning and disbudding].”
PETA partnered with the Ohio Department of Agriculture to rescue more than a dozen bears who were relinquished to the agency after their keepers failed to comply with Ohio’s tough new exotic-animal ownership laws. The bears were retired to The Wild Animal Sanctuary in Colorado, where they’ll have acres to roam in a naturalistic environment.
