Largest Canadian Coffee Chain Drops Vegan Milk Upcharge

After discussions with PETA, Tim Hortons—one of the largest coffee chains in the world—confirmed that it eliminated the upcharge on vegan milk for all beverages in the United States and Canada. It is now the third major coffee chain to drop the extra fee for almond, oat, and other vegan milk in the last three months, following Starbucks and Dutch Bros. Cows are gentle, sensitive individuals—yet calves used in the dairy industry are torn from their mothers within days of birth, so the milk meant for them can be made into coffee creamer and other items. Now, choosing compassionate options won’t cost consumers an extra cent at coffee chains across North America. Everyone can join us in urging holdout companies, including The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Dunkin’, and Peet’s, to follow suit and stop penalizing consumers for making compassionate, climate-friendly choices.
