Today’s passionate and informed young people are leading the animal rights revolution—and to help them do it, PETA is launching a first-of-its-kind grant program. The group’s SOS Activism Grants will offer up to $1,000 to each recipient between the ages of 13 and 24 with an idea and a plan for helping to end speciesism at their school, on their campus, or in their community.

Students Opposing Speciesism (SOS) is a PETA-backed, youth-led revolt against speciesism, the old belief that, despite their extraordinary abilities, capacity for love and emotions, and inherent worthiness, other animals exist solely for humans to exploit—the very human-supremacist societal structure that PETA is encouraging Gen Z to help dismantle.

“Speciesism is a threat to animals everywhere, and no idea is too big or too small to make a difference today,” says SOS Director Rachelle Owen. “PETA is banking on—and will help bankroll—members of Gen Z who are working toward a more just world for everyone, from humans to hens.”

Submissions must align with PETA’s mission and work. To find out more and apply for an SOS Activism Grant, please click here.

PETA’s motto is “Animals are not ours to experiment on, eat, wear, use for entertainment, or abuse in any other way.” For more information, please visit PETA.org or follow the group on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram.
