What’s Up, Jax? Rescued Guinea Pig Loves Carrots More Than Bugs Bunny Does
I like carrots as much as the next person. I like them marinated, grilled, and served on a bun like a hot dog. (Seriously, you have to try it!) I like them puréed into creamy vegan mac ’n’ cheese. I like them shredded and baked into a moist, spicy cake. But I’ve never met anybody who loves carrots as much as Jaxon does.
He came to PETA when his guardian was getting ready to move. Fortunately, instead of placing a “free guinea pig” ad on Craigslist (always a bad idea—here’s why), she called us, so Jaxon landed on his dainty pink feet in a PETA foster home.
The opinionated animal wasted no time letting his foster mom in on his likes and dislikes. For example, he loves to run around in circles at top speed, doing what appears to be a guinea pig version of an Olympic time trial (cue Chariots of Fire theme).
He loves to camp out in his rainbow log tunnel, using it as a stash house for his toys and treats.
But what Jaxon loves more than anything else in the whole world are carrots. He loves carrots so much that whenever anyone opens the refrigerator door, he stations himself squarely in front of it and emits an ear-piercing squeal until the slow-witted human gets the message and offers him his favorite treat.
Do you have a heart full of love and a refrigerator full of carrots? Sounds like the kind of place where he could put down roots. If you carrot all about adding a guinea pig to your family, dig out your phone and e-mail us at [email protected] to find out how you can join Jaxon’s beta caroteam.
