Raising animals for food requires massive amounts of land, food, energy, and water and causes immense animal suffering. The United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change says that the West’s high consumption of meat and dairy is fueling climate change and that cutting them from our diets could reduce our carbon footprint from food by two-thirds. It would also help conserve resources, reduce pollution, and prevent the loss of forests as well as the slaughter of billions of sentient beings.
