PETA ‘Skeletons’ to Rattle Canada Goose

Tomorrow, a pack of PETA protesters wearing skull masks and fake Canada Goose coats will descend on the company’s SoHo store and play recordings of trapped coyotes screaming to remind passersby that there’s death—of coyotes and birds—behind each of the company’s jackets. The protest is part of a week of action that will also include Canada Goose protests in Beverly Hills, California; Boston; Pittsburgh; and beyond.

“PETA is pulling out all the stops this week to rally shoppers against Canada Goose’s fur-and-feather coats,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “When it comes to feeling pain, loving their families, and valuing their lives, birds and coyotes are no different from humans, and continuing to profit from the violent deaths of animals when there are so many wonderful cruelty-free options is inexcusable.”
PETA notes that trapped coyotes can die from exposure to the elements, blood loss, infection, or attacks by predators before trappers return to kill them. Geese and ducks used for down are typically shoved into crates and shipped in all weather extremes to slaughterhouses, where they’re stunned, their throats are cut, and they’re dunked into scalding-hot defeathering tanks.
