In time for Valentine’s Day, a new PETA billboard just went up across the street from a flower shop and near several barbecue restaurants warning bouquet buyers and diners that meat can have an impact on what happens—or doesn’t happen—in the bedroom.
“There’s nothing romantic about animal suffering, and the cholesterol found in meat, eggs, and dairy causes hardening of the arteries and slows the flow of blood to all the body’s organs, not just the heart,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “PETA’s cheeky billboard will have Springfield valentines swapping that deadly date-night steak for a vibrant veggie burger in a heartbeat.”
Low-fat vegan meals have been shown to address the physical causes involved in the vast majority of impotence cases, including high cholesterol, obesity, diabetes, prostate cancer or inflammation, and hormonal imbalances. And of course, each person who goes vegan saves nearly 200 animals every year from daily suffering and a terrifying death.
The billboard is located at 1798 S. Grant Ave., across the street from Flowerama and near Whole Hog Café, RibCrib BBQ, and Buckingham Smokehouse Bar-B-Q.
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview. For more information, please visit PETA.org or follow the group on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram.
