PETA Offers up to $5,000 Reward for Help Nabbing Dog Torturer

Group Joins Animal Rescue League of Boston, Quincy Police in Effort to Bring Vicious Culprit to Justice

Quincy, Mass. — An emaciated pit bull puppy was discovered in woods near Whitwell Street in Quincy on August 30 and taken to the Animal Rescue League of Boston (ARL), where veterinarians determined that she had been viciously and repeatedly tortured, possibly throughout her young life. Reportedly, the animal was found with a serpent-like split in her tongue, she had been stabbed in the eye, repeated beatings had left her with calloused skull bones and smashed vertebrae, her leg was virtually broken in half, and her wrist, ankle, and elbow had been separated at the joints by great force. 

According to reports, this case is “unquestionably … hands down” the worst case of animal abuse that veterinarians with the ARL have ever seen. Authorities are desperately searching for the person or persons who tortured the puppy but have yet to make any arrests. That’s why PETA is adding up to $5,000 to the $5,000 offered by ARL for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this crime.

“Someone out there sadistically tortured this puppy over an extended period of time, and that person is dangerous,” says PETA Director Martin Mersereau. “Studies show that people who commit sadistic acts against animals are often repeat offenders who move on to human victims—so PETA urges anyone with information about this case to come forward now, before this torturer hurts someone else.”
