Gainesville, Fla. — On September 12, three children reportedly witnessed an unidentified man viciously choke and beat a dog at The Polos apartment complex, leaving the brown Labrador retriever mix with a deep gash on her head, a skull fracture, and internal injuries. The dog is recovering from her wounds at Alachua County Animal Services, but Gainesville police have yet to identify the perpetrator, whom the witnesses describe as a white male between 5 feet10 inches and 6 feet tall with brown hair, a medium build, and a tattoo between his shoulder blades.
That’s why PETA is offering up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for this crime.
Would you please consider sharing this information with your audience? It might be the only way to apprehend the person responsible for this heinous act.
“It’s imperative that the police find this person, who apparently choked and beat a dog until her skull cracked—all while three children were watching,” says PETA Director Martin Mersereau. “Gainesville residents have good cause to be concerned. According to leading mental-health professionals, perpetrators of violent acts against animals are often repeat offenders who pose a serious threat to all animals—including humans.”
Anyone with information about this case is encouraged to contact the Gainesville Police Department’s Communications Center at 352-955-1818.
