Please see the following statement from PETA Senior Vice President Kathy Guillermo regarding the California Horse Racing Board report, released on March 10, concerning the deaths of 23 horses last year:

The California Horse Racing Board report confirms what PETA has been saying all along: Get the drugs out, stop racing injured horses, and hold trainers and veterinarians accountable. These are all issues that we address in the bill that we cosponsored with Social Compassion in Legislation, which was recently introduced by California State Assembly Member Ash Kalra. We also urge the board to test the necropsy samples for the substances named in this week’s indictments of 27 trainers and others before concluding that no illegal drugging occurred.
