Ahead of the Academy Awards—and as many award show events go vegan this season for animals and the planet, including the Oscar Nominees Luncheon, which served guests an all-vegan menu—PETA is sending nominees, presenters, and attendees (plus their stylists and publicists) an eco- and animal-friendly pin for them to wear on the red carpet that reads, “Plants Save Our Planet.”
“PETA’s pin will turn the red carpet green,” says PETA Senior Vice President Lisa Lange. “As Hollywood is packed with kind, eco-conscious celebrities, the Oscars are the perfect opportunity to shine a spotlight on the power of vegan eating to save animals and combat the climate crisis.”
By some estimates, animal agriculture is responsible for more greenhouse gases globally than all of the world’s transportation systems combined, and according to the United Nations, a global shift toward vegan eating is essential to fight the worst effects of climate change. Each person who goes vegan also saves the lives of nearly 200 animals every year.
PETA opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview. For more information, please visit PETA.org.
