Just in time for the holiday shopping season, Portuguese vegan footwear company NAE has launched a limited-edition PETA x NAE collection of Vegan Goodyear Welted Desert Boots, available in navy blue and sage green. Photos are available here.

Constructed using the Goodyear welting method—one of the most durable methods of footwear construction—the PETA x NAE ankle boots feature a modern unisex style and are made from sustainable materials, including organic cotton, coconut fiber, natural rubber, and cork. In honor of the collaboration, a percentage of sales from the collection will go toward PETA’s vital work to help animals used in the clothing industry.

Leather is the most economically important coproduct of the meat industry, so choosing vegan footwear spares cows the cruelty of castration, branding, and tail-docking as well as their throats being slit in slaughterhouses. Vegan footwear is also kinder to the environment, as more than 80% of the Amazon rainforest that’s been cleared since 1970 is used for either grazing or growing food for cattle used by the meat and leather industries.
