Tell Beverage Distributor That the Iditarod Is an Arctic Nightmare for Dogs
The Iditarod is an arctic nightmare for the dogs who are forced to pull heavy sleds approximately 1,000 miles in less than two weeks. While these dogs are kept chained during the off-season and suffer and die for the cruel race, beverage company The Odom Corporation is sponsoring it.
In just the past decade, dogs forced to run in the Iditarod have died of heart attacks, internal bleeding, and aspiration pneumonia as well as from being buried alive in snow. More than 150 dogs have died in the event since it began, and up to half of those who start the race don’t finish it due to exhaustion, illness, injury, or other causes. Countless others have died during the off-season while chained to a post or were killed simply because they couldn’t run fast enough.
Urge The Odom Corporation to join the growing list of companies—including ExxonMobil, Alaska Airlines, Chrysler, The Coca-Cola Company, and Jack Daniel’s—that have ended their affiliation with this death race.
