The results are in for PETA’s 2018 ranking of the Top 10 Vegan-Friendly Cities in the U.S., and San Francisco has nabbed the number three spot. Award-winning musician Moby kicked off this year’s awards with a reception at his all-vegan Los Angeles bistro, Little Pine, on May 15. Vegan stars—including Kristin Bauer and Craig Robinson—appeared to help celebrate the city as the number-one spot on the list.

“From the decadent Hawaiian Teriyaki burger at VeganBurg to the sweet treats at the all-vegan Wholesome Bakery, the Golden City deserves a gold medal for its varied vegan dining options,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “All the cities on PETA’s list are responding to the booming demand for vegan fare with healthy and humane dishes that are as delicious as they are kind to animals.”

San Franciscans looking to indulge in mouthwatering grub can make a stop at VeganBurg, “the world’s first 100% plant-based burger joint,” which offers Smoky BBQ burgers, Creamy Shrooms burgers, and many more! Other vegan eateries include the Golden Era Vegan Restaurant, The Flying Falafel, and IndoChine Vegan, where you can indulge in vegan twists on traditional Korean dishes. Visitors to Peña Pachamama can take in a live South American music or dance performance while dining on authentic vegan Bolivian fare, while health-conscious residents of the Golden City can grab on-the-go snacks courtesy of leCupboard, whose vending machines dispense zucchini noodles, lentil salads, and chia pudding at the press of a button. And for dessert, the all-vegan Wholesome Bakery has your guilt-free sugar rush covered with gorgeous cakes, cupcakes, tarts, and more.

Rounding out PETA’s list are Los Angeles; New York; Minneapolis; Portland, Oregon; Detroit; Cleveland; Omaha, Nebraska; Miami; and Kansas City, Missouri.

PETA’s motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat.” For more information, please visit PETA.org.
