With a pair of baby chickens perched on his shoulder, musician and Instagram superstar Wes Tucker stars in a new campaign for peta2, PETA’s youth division, that proclaims, “Chicks Love a Vegetarian.”

In an exclusive video interview with peta2, Tucker shares how a video of a cow crying out on the way to a slaughterhouse inspired him to stop eating meat: “[I]t just put the connection between the actual food and the animal and [I] decided that I didn’t want to eat it anymore,” he says.

Now, he’s a proud vegetarian—and he’s looking for a date who shares his values. “If I was out with a girl and she just got a huge steak, I’d be, like, ‘Oh, my God. You really gonna eat that?’” he says. “[But if] the girl, you know, she goes out and she orders vegetarian, vegan, we’d definitely have an instant connection.”

peta2—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—notes that everyone who goes vegan dramatically reduces their carbon footprint and spares more than 100 animals every year daily suffering and a terrifying death.

Tucker joins a growing list of celebrities—including Noah Cyrus, Corey Fogelmanis, Hayes Grier, James McVey, the members of Fifth Harmony, and many more—who’ve teamed up with peta2 to promote kindness to animals.
