PETA Statement: Louis Vuitton’s ‘Outrage’ Hasn’t Helped Animals

Today at Louis Vuitton’s annual shareholder meeting, company representatives responded to a question from PETA—which owns stock in the company—and stated that Louis Vuitton would continue to use crocodile and ostrich skins despite being “outraged” by cruelty to animals. Below, please find a statement in response to this comment from PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman:

PETA has exposed the cruelty of the exotic-skins industry, and Louis Vuitton has done nothing to end the misery of ostriches whose throats are slit orcrocodiles who are often skinned alive for a wallet or a handbag. Those who are outraged by cruelty to animals are staying away from Louis Vuitton’s stores until it embraces beautiful, humane, and eco-friendly vegan materials.
