Rapper T-Pain has teamed up with his labelmate Sixx Mann for a fun new video for PETA encouraging fans to treat animal companions like family, just as they do. Gushing about his pampered dog Rallo—who will use only the elevator in his three-story home—and joking that he needs to burn his outfit to avoid making Rallo jealous after shooting the video with a rescued pup named Lucy, the Grammy winner shows off his softer side in the clip, which is set to the pair’s new single, “Audi.”
“[P]ets are family and they should be treated as such,” says T-Pain. “I think the most important thing people should know [is to treat] your dog how you’d like to be treated. Your dog is going to love you as much as you love [him or her].”
New Orleans–native Sixx Mann, who recently signed on to T-Pain’s Nappy Boy Entertainment, freestyles a canine-oriented cover of the producer’s hit song “Buy U a Drank” and adds, “Respect and attention will go a long way with anybody. … So you treat your animals like … you would treat your children.”
Every year, more than 6 million dogs and cats end up in U.S. animal shelters and half of them have to be euthanized because there aren’t enough good homes for them all. That’s why PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to abuse in any way”—always encourages caring people to have their animals spayed or neutered, adopt instead of buying, keep animals indoors with the rest of the family (never chained up outside), and give them lots of love and respect.
T-Pain and Sixx Mann join a long list of celebrities—including D.R.A.M., Eve, Kid Ink, P!nk, RZA, Sia, and Waka Flocka Flame—who have teamed up with PETA to promote kindness to animals.
