#CanadaGooseKillsDay Reminds Us ‘Tis the Season to Protest Cruelty
Around the time when winter starts nipping at our noses, those trashy Canada Goose jackets come out of the woodwork. But the start of cold weather also marks the time of year when PETA pushes harder than ever against this cruel company and its support of animal abuse.

Every fur-trimmed, down-filled Canada Goose coat is the product of intense animal suffering.
In the trapping industry, when mother coyotes—who are desperate to get back to their starving pups—are caught in traps, they may try to chew off their own legs to escape. Animals caught in steel traps who don’t die from exposure, blood loss, infection, or predators are typically bludgeoned, shot, or killed in some other violent manner when the trapper returns.
Ducks and geese suffer for down as well. Birds used for their feathers are inevitably sent to the slaughterhouse, where standard practice is to hang them upside down, stun them, and then slit their throats—often while they’re still conscious.
The only ones who need the fur and feathers are the animals themselves.
There’s a reason why many outdoor clothing companies have ditched animal fur and down feathers. Vegan materials—such as faux fur and great alternatives to down feathers—are often much lighter, more durable, and more practical.
In the 21st century, warm, cruelty-free winter coats can be found virtually anywhere. With so many animal-friendly options to choose from, there’s no excuse for anyone to die violently and painfully for fashion.
