Please see the following statement from PETA Senior Vice President Daphna Nachminovitch regarding tonight’s announcement by the National Greyhound Association—which PETA has long criticized for its appalling treatment of racing greyhounds, including doping them—that The Pet Blood Bank in Cherokee, Texas, will close its doors and transfer the dogs to adoption programs following PETA’s exposé of the facility:

PETA applauds the release of these dear dogs whose lives have been a mess from start (at the track) to finish (in a pit), and now, we’ll make sure that regulations are passed to ensure that all blood for emergency transfusions is obtained humanely and not from miserable dogs.
